Afiq is gaining weight

I hope you still remember my previous post about Afiq's weight..so after about a month I weighed him again yesterday morning. The result was..Yeay! He gained 400g despite having pneumonia 2 weeks ago...Alhamdulillah. I'm very thankful to Allah that nothing serious happened to him.

This is his latest pic which was taken yesterday after we came back from the clinic..he looked so happy as if he knows that he is gaining weight.

Hhahahhaaa have a look at his face..'cuak' or errr nervous face...Of course he made that face... because we undressed him and left him naked on that weighing scale! Poor Afiq felt very scared. When you look closer you could see his weight now is 6.1kg. The last weight was 5.7kg.
I think the reason why he didn't gain any weight last month was inadequate feeding by my babysitter :(
Now I am not sure whether to find another babysitter or stay with this one...what do you think?

ULTRAMAN and ULTRABOYS!

Aiman and Danial are now a big fan of ULTRAMAN..before this I think they knew about the 'existence' of Ultraman but since they watch the series Ultraman Tiga at Astro Ceria they become fanatic about it. You name it...Tiga, Dyna, Gaia, Nexus, Zeus.. Danial will show you how they fight with the monsters and Aiman will tell you the difference between them. Aiman also can sing that Ultraman Tiga theme song!..but nobody in the house understand it..hehehhe because it is in Japanese language. This is Aiman's answer when I ask him on how does he differentiate between each Ultraman..

Me: aiman macamana aiman kata yang ni Tiga?

Aiman: Tiga lampu dia bulat

Me:Dyna?

Aiman:Dyna ada line kuning kat bahu dia.

Me:Nexus?

Aiman:Dia ada tanduk dgn tajam kat tgn dia.

Me: Gaia?

Aiman: Dia ada tanduk dengan lampu dia segitiga

Me:Zeus?

Aiman:Ada tanduk tapi lampu bulat, baju dia merah dengan putih

OMG! You are so observant Aiman! Well done. Since the past few days both of them keep asking us to buy an ultraman toy and the monsters so that they can play with them. Oh! The wind has changed from Thomas and Friends to Ultraman!

A little bit about Ultraman...

I never know that the star of ULTRAMAN TIGA (Daigo) is actually a pop singer!
Do you know that ULTRAMAN has 28 special powers? Yes they do but despite all these amazing powers, Ultraman has one main weakness: Since earth's atmosphere filters out his solar energy, Ultraman can only be on earth for 3 minutes. To signal this, a warning light in Ultraman's chest (called the ColorTimer (カラータイマー, KarāTaimā?) in the Japanese-language version) starts out at blue. At the 1 minute mark it starts to blink, and then turns red and blinks faster at the 2 minute mark. Some sources have given 2:10 as the mark where the timer begins to blink. If the ColorTimer/warning light stops, Ultraman will "never rise again". Obviously, at whatever point the blinking begins, Ultraman typically has only a short amount of time left to defeat his foe and return to his human host.

Thanks to Wikipedia..I learn a lot about Ultraman today..yeay!
OK....lets have a look at my ULTRABOYS..

Aiman and Danial will love to see this...their ULTRAMAN pictures and pic of them in the same page. Aiman is the one who gave me the idea to write this post. Thanks Aiman and Danial, you both make up my day :)

Afiq's hospital stay..

First of all, my family and I would like to thank all my blogging friends, my silent blog readers and everybody out there who pray and concern about our beloved afiq's health. He was admitted to the hospital on 2nd of March 2008 for pneumonia (Lung infection) and was discharged 4 days later. During his hospital stay, he was treated with intravenous antibiotcs, antipyretics and the most important was intravenous fluids. He was severely dehydrated during the admission and 1 litre of 1/5 dextrose saline solution was given intravenously throughout the admission. Currently he has completed his antibiotics which was switched from IV to oral antibiotics when he was discharged. He still has mild cough but he feeds well. We are very thankful to Allah S.W.T that he is recovering very well.

This is his chest radiograph which was taken before his admission. This is also the pic that we sent to a Paediatrician via MMS. If you can see there were patchy opacities over both sides of his lungs. Ops! Do I have to explain that the centre white thing is his heart and both lungs supposed to be black with whitish line across them which are the ribs? So the patchy opacities between the ribs are the area of infections. Yes, like what my hubby wrote in his post prior to this, to treat someone else's child is easy but when it comes to your own..very difficult even with a clear cut pneumonia..(pssssst:that's why we have to send that MMS to a paediatrician!..I tried to say that it was not pneumonia features but my hubby said most probably it is..but now we realised that it was all because denial that we cannot make the diagnosis of pneumonia even though it was right in front of us!..LOL)

Afiq during his second day in the ward..

Faces of him during the stay...

Can you see that yellow thing over his left hand? That is the stopper to stop the blood from coming out from the site where the branulla (intravenous access line) was inserted...initially it was left just like that with the stopper taken out and connects the branulla tip to the intravenous tubing..but later...

We have to do this..cover his hand with his pampers! because he kept trying to pull the IV tubing off! Hahhhahhaa Afiq.. I really hope that you'll be able to see this when you grown up. Naughty boy huh...Muahahaaaahaa

Most of us prefer to be admitted to private hospital instead of government hospital. I guess that also applies to me...but since my house is just 5 minutes drive from this gov hospital and we personally know most of the staff... besides, they used to work under my hubby and most important was Afiq's condition is not that bad...then we decided to admit him there.Kesian Afiq..hehehhee jimat duit.
Again, to end this posting I would like to thank all of you for the support...THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

TO AFIQ, FROM BAK

It's twelve midnight. Something woke me up. I'm lying on my bed coughing my night away. It has been like this for the past few days. Beside me are my two eldest sons. On my left is Abang Ngah (Danial) with his light green Popeye pyjamas and on my right is Aiman my eldest son with his current favourite pyjamas Superman.
Abang Ngah is sleeping in his usual unusual position, with a pillow tucked under his stomach and raising his buttock. His eyes are closed shut as is his mouth, whereas Aiman is also sleeping in a similarly unusual position (with both his legs dangling down from the bed) but his eyes are partially closed or partially opened (depends on which way you interpret it) and his mouth opens and occasionally snores.
Something is missing, something is not right. Where's my wife? where's my youngest son Afiq? I suddenly realised that both of them are not where they are supposed to be. I'm trying to fool myself, i knew that both of them were at the Hospital Baling where Afiq was admitted today. This is the second time that Afiq was admitted, with the first one is due to Physiological Jaundice when he was only 3 days old. This time, he was admitted due to bronchopneumonia or in laymens term, a lung infection.
My dear little afiq had been unwell for the past few days prior to his admission when he suddenly developed a fever last Wednesday. His fever gradually progressed into a cold and cough. After 2 days, my wife and I decided to start Afiq on a course of oral antibiotics. His fever seems to be settling but his phlegm is getting worse along with his blocked nose.
Then, the turn of event got worse when suddenly my dear little Afiq refused to feed. His last proper bottle was on Saturday night. I tried to feed him, my wife also tried but to no avail. He just lost interest in feeding. We thought it might be due to the phlegm so we brought him to Baling Hospital Casualty department for a suction to be done to Afiq as a supportive treatment to clear his phlegm. A decision I later regret. We only managed to suck out a small quantity of phlegm as his phlegm is so thick. Afiq later vomited a few more phlegm along with partially digested milk and a lot mucus. It is so easy (as a doctor) when you had to do to someone else's child but when it comes to your own, it is not.
Being a sweet little Afiq, he seems normal. Kept on smiling when he was smiled to, kept on laughing when played to. As if he was trying to tell us not to worry about him. but the long period of semi fasting is getting into him. By Sunday afternoon he looked tired.
When we got back that afternoon, he was looking lethargic. I felt his anterior fontanelle had sunken (an area just above the forehead which is situated in the middle) and his pulse rate is also increasing. Both were the signs of dehydration. I suggested to my wife that we should bring Afiq to see a paediatrician later that evening in Alor Star. My wife insisted that I call my ex-boss. Dr Teh, wether she is available today. I immediately called her and consulted her. She advised me to do a chest xray and then to send the image to her by MMS. We wasted no time as we rushed to Baling Hospital Casualty department to get an xray done. After the xray was done, we were waiting for the film to be ready. when we saw the film, my worse fears were confirmed. I knew that Afiq had pneumonia but I had to be sure. So I sent the images of the film to Dr Teh. She tells me that it is pneumonia and it is best if Afiq is to be admitted for further treatment. Later in the evening, Afiq was admitted again in the space of 5 months. Afiq needs to start on an intravenous antibiotics and intravenous drip (for his dehydration).
This is not a dream, this is real as I thought to myself again that night. I pray to god for Afiq and was thankful that it is not worse than this.
TO AFIQ, BAK PRAY FOR YOU TO GET WELL SOON, AND BAK MISSES YOU TONIGHT AND OF COURSE BAK LOVES YOU VERY MUCH.

Today's menu

Today is my day with the three heroes. Luckily everybody is recovering from common cold. My hubby requested for something different for lunch...meaning that not the ordinary..nasi + lauk. He want Lontong!..hmmm quite a tough job to cook that alone with my 3 heroes but for my beloved hubby I did it. Not only that, I baked bread and butter pudding too :)

Lontong..anyone?

Bread and butter pudding..my version hehehheee

Look who's enjoying my pudding?

So guys nothing much to write today, so for those who is still on a weekend holiday tomorrow..enjoy your Sunday! I'll be working tomorrow.

My workstation?..My dream bed.

The French Belgravia Collection bed...so irresistible!

I was blog hopping this morning when I stumbled upon a blog which showed the owner's workstation and also a place where the owner did the digital work and blog hopping. Then, I thought...where is mine? Oh, do you want to know where usually I do all these blogging things? On my bed! Do you believe me? Of course you have to.. because I have a few reasons why I'm blogging on my bed.

1. I have a small baby (5 month old) who always lie beside me while I'm blogging...so where do you think the best place for me to blog?...Yes! On my bed.

2. I have a wireless internet (Streamyx) connection at home, so why should I sit on a chair when I can lie down on my bed?

3. My bedroom also has a Television set and if I lie on my bed while blogging I could also watch TV at the same time but if I do it somewhere else I cannot watch my fav show..
Well, with the 3 reasons I guess my hubby is willing to get me a new more comfortable bed. So I started browsing for my dream bed and I found this site Guest Beds. Personally I love french style bed with light colours such as white, beige or light brown. I wish I could have their French Belgravia collection. It is chic and fashionable and most importantly it suits my bedroom theme which is country French style. The French Belgravia collection also came with matching furniture. Definitely I would choose their ambience side tables and also ambience dressing table. You should have a look at it...very French looking! Apart from their very wide collection and nice looking beds and furnitures, I guess the other important part is the price right? I found that their range of prices are also reasonable. Oh I can start dreaming of having it now..and my blogging hours will be like heaven..on my dream French Belgravia bed!
