Aiman's birthday party...

Aiman's birthday is actually on 12th February...however this year we have to make it on 14th February..the reason is simple, 14th February 2008 falls on Thursday and the next day is Friday..so hubby and me can get some times to rest on friday before we (hubby) start to work on Saturday...

Thursday 14th February 2008
Morning :
-I went to the market to buy chickens, prawns and vegetables..sent the chickens to my helper's house to be marinated.
-Went home and prepared dessert for the party (Lychee Puddings)

Afternoon:
-Took back the chickens
-went to the bakery to pick up birthday cake
-last minute shopping for snacks

3.30pm:
-Started to grill the chicken, prawns and squids.
-Fried the noodles and rice (fried noodles and fried rice)
-Started to arrange the tables and chairs

5.30pm
The party started..ops before I forget..we actually forgot to take pictures during the party because we were very busy entertaining our guest!..until the time Aiman blowed the candles..LOL...

Aiman was very excited because he knew that his friends will come to his house..and when his first guest arrived, he ran inside! (malu konon..LOLz).We could see happiness in his eyes and it is priceless.

The birthday cake..

Aiman's Birth Day...

11 February 6 years ago....

I started to feel the pain at around noon..what is that pain..is he coming? I was at home in Cheras, to be exact Condominium Prisma Perdana just beside HUKM (We rent the house there after we got married). I was in my final year doing medicine and again to be exact, a month before my final professional exam! Luckily it was my study leave. Hubby advised me to go and have a check...but I don't think that was the pain. However few hours later the pain became regular and more painful. We went to admission centre at O&G Dept. HUKM..and yes the doctor said I'm in early labour, so I was admitted to antenatal ward first. At that moment mixed feelings and thoughts came to me..will it be very-very painful? will it be going smoothly..And the thoughts were disturbed by regular contraction pain..
I couldn't even close my eyes that night...due to pain and yet it only opens 2cm..arghhhh..I could not imagine what will it be if it is fully dilated then....
At 3am I felt an intense pain...I called the nurse, and after a checked, they said that I'll be sent to labour room. At 4 am I was wheeled in to Labour room. Then the rest are history......

I gave birth to a Aiman at 9.54am on 12 february 2002..a cute 2.78kg boy...I still keep some of the memorabillias..like his bracelets and even his umbilical cord clamp! It was a Chinesse New Year Holiday..so most of my relatives came to visit at the hospital..I am very blessed to have him in my life and just about a month before my final exam...(went to clinical exam with my socks!)

To Aiman, when you are old enough to read this...I just want you to know that we all love you and a very happy birthday my dear son.

A Lovable blogging friend ...Noushy.

I was surprised when I found out that NOUSHY gave me another award that makes 2 awards within a week! Thank you Noushy..and as I said before,it needs a lovable person to make others feel lovable..I feels like knowing you for a long time even though we knew each other (through Blogging) only for a month I guess...That is the miracle of friendship..I dedicate this quote for Noushy and all my blogging friends...have a great day guys and make all people around you feel lovable..

A good friend is someone we can count on, as well as being so much more.
A friend is someone with whom we can relax and just hang out, have fun and share our innermost thoughts--deep dark secrets, lofty and noble goals, our hopes, joys, and fears.
A good friend allows you a safe space to share your deepest thoughts and needs--without worry of being judged, criticized or made to feel silly for feeling the way you do.
Friends cheer each other on, laugh and cry together, and just plain commiserate and listen to each other.
That's why friends are friends....by Bettie and Jennifer Leigh Youngs.
p.s: Today a bit bz..went out looking for things to put in Aiman's bday party goody bag!..and also invitation cards...will post here when everything ready...

Planning for Aiman's Birthday Party

I'm following the step by step instruction given in planning a dinner party for 50...

1. Step One
Choose a date for your event. If you plan to honor any special guests - or there are guests on your list whose presence you particularly desire - make sure the date is convenient for them.

Aiman's birthday is on 12th February 2002..but this year we are going to hold a party on 14th of February...because it is easier for our guest to come since the next day is a holiday here. After all my hubby and me also can have a rest the next day..or else we have to take our annual leave. I don't think we have a particularly desired guest...all our guest are desired.

2. Step Two
Evaluate your space. Be sure you have enough table space and chairs in your home or reserve a space for the party elsewhere. If you have the party somewhere else, decide how you will provide the food (catered, picnic-style, using a rented hall's kitchen, and so on).

We are going to have it at home..specifically at the car porch but the guest are free to choose whether to sit outside or inside the house..About the table and chairs...we already have it(because the last Hari Raya we had an open house done and the the owner of those tables and chairs has not taken it back yet..LOL so we are going to use it for the 2nd time..

3. Step Three
Decide on your budget. Large dinner parties needn't be expensive: with a little ingenuity you can make a meal for very little money. Make your own decorations instead of ordering expensive flowers. Consider a potluck, a picnic, or other alternatives to a sit-down dinner.
This time it is not going to be a large party..total guest is around 50..last raya open house almost 200 guest!

4 . Step Four
Choose a theme or plan table centerpieces and a color scheme.
We have no specific theme..

5 . Step Five
Make sure you have enough place settings, serving bowls and platters, serving utensils and other needed items. Borrow or rent these items if necessary.

We are going to buy paper plates only...

6. Step Six
Extend invitations, either by phone or written invitation. Give clear RSVP instructions.
Up till now I've invited few people already, Aiman's friends and their family will be invited by invitation card which I haven't buy yet...hehheehh

7 . Step Seven
Finalize your guest list by following up on guests who do not RSVP
I cannot do this until I've invited all of them...

8 .Step Eight
Make all the arrangements for any space rental, entertainment (such as a band or DJ), catering, other hired help (such as cleanup staff), photographer, flowers, or other large expenses and commitments at least two weeks before the event.

I think this step ..catering is the only thing applicable...anyway I'm going to settle it by Tuesday coz a few dish I need somebody to help me in the cooking process..not really a caterer.

9. Step Nine
Prepare a timetable for all other tasks, leaving as little as possible for the day of the event. Include space in your timetable for things that might go wrong.

I have my own timetable and I hope everything will be following that smoothly.

10. Step Ten
If you're cooking, plan each dish and make an appropriate shopping list.
This is the most important step I guess because I'm going to cook 95% of the dish...and I'm going for a shopping on Tuesday at Tesco.

After I did this, I realise that a few things need urgent attention...like finding an invitation cards and meeting with my caterer (helper actually)..ok I'll try my best to do it tomorrow..and settle everything according to timetable...like what David Tutera said...To organise a party..95% of the time should be spent on planning and only 5% on the day itself....Hmmmmmm
